I've been a Network Administrator for the same company for 10+ years. I also detail cars on the side. That's awesome, man. Any tips on how to grow into that job? Most places require that you have at least an Associates degree. The company I work for offers tuition reimbursement, so I was able to go back and obtain my Bachelors Degree. I started off at the bottom by doing just regular help desk stuff. Fixing computers, phone troubleshooting, printer repair, etc. I gained most of my knowledge from my current manager. He's the one who showed me how to set up virtual machines, configure the servers, manage/configure the SANS, etc. You have to constantly educate yourself on the current technology because it's constantly changing. Just when you think you're an expert at one thing, it gets phased out and you have to learn something completely new.

I'm a welder by trade, spent a couple years working for one of the biggest heavy machinery manufacturers in the world (think big yellow tractors they always have on roadwork & construction sites.) It was a lot of fun. I left in 2014 to start a business with my brother doing event rental - definitely more fun and rewarding. I still get under the hood every now and then, it's just to fix festival tents or stage decks instead of huge deforestation machines. What sort of event rental do you do? Can imagine it being interesting depending on what you rent out Sorry for the belated response, I've been on vacation all week. Here's some pictures of the stuff I do! We specialize in festivals and weddings but can handle just about anything. Only stuff we steer clear of are things like bounce houses and other inflatables. Here's some pictures of some events we've done this year.

I'm a fulfillment manager for a company that receives and fills orders for health supplements. Mainly erection pills that kiiiiiiinda work alright. $14 an hour keeps me alive in Arizona, though.
Really hoping to go back to school someday soon, though. I want to do social work, preferably Child Protective Services.

I am currently a Consultation Agent at Geek Squad. The job pays okay for being entry-level retail IT, but I am definitely looking to advance my career in IT.

Sell affordable swedish furniture (sure thats obvious enough), specifically lighting but usually end up all over the place.
Used to be a dental technician, man that was a shitty job.
Uni drop out also (mech eng).
So yeah tried a few routes, still think a work/life balance is the most important thing (which thankfully i've got not too bad at the moment).

Really hoping to go back to school someday soon, though. I want to do social work, preferably Child Protective Services. Out of curiosity, what about CPS makes you want to work in that field? A few things, but I won't go too deep into it. Probably the biggest influence is the personal accounts of friends and family members who have dealt with CPS and had a sub-par experience. The idea of children being put in violent, abusive, or other compromising circumstances is sickening, and then to know that it can be made worse by bad situational management, a faulty foster system, and a general lack of empathy on the part of workers. Gotta defend those who can't defend themselves. Spread a little love. Another reason is that my life essentially led me here. Due to different places I've lived, people I've created relationships with, and what I've studied, I believe that I have the natural abilities to learn how to be effective in this career field. I know it's going to be rough. I know there will be moments where any choice I could make will be detrimental in some way. Every time it gets brought up someone feels the need to tell me how bad it's going to suck. I just want to help people, man.

Right now I'm a writer. One for a large company, the other for a SEO company. I basically get paid to just come up with online marketing blogs, which is nice since I don't mind writing!

I'm logistics manager in IT distributor. Company has been running for six years now and from zero it's grown second biggest in country and now has branch in Baltics as well. It sure has been interesting to see it grow and I kinda like my job but still hate it because it's a job.
