Didn't realise we didn't have one of these threads already, but here it is. So post your top TV shows that you would want everyone to watch.
Mine are as follows:
1 - Friday Night Lights
Absolutely charming show about small town Texan footballers (Although the show isn't most about the football) which launched the careers of a number of actors, including Coach Taylor himself, Kyle Chandler. No show has made me laugh and cry as regularly as this one did.
2 - Breaking Bad
Praising this show is old news now as the majority of people have seen it, but at the time, Breaking Bad was one of the only shows like it on TV. Dark, smart, depressing, funny, chilling, every adjective you can think of thrown into one stylish beast.
3 - Deadwood
The best Western series I've seen by far. The dialogue is second to none, the characters are amazing and it's such a shame that the show was canned without a proper ending. Well worth catching up with just to see Ian McShane at his best.
4 - The Wire
The Wire doesn't really feel like a TV show, it just feels like you're watching people in real life through their daily struggles, and that's the beauty of the show in essence. You've got cult heroes like Omar (Michael K Williams), Idris Elba at his best, and a number of supporting characters (Not one of them unlikable in the slightest) that keep you invested in a show that not only focuses on the streets in Baltimore, each season tackles another section of the city whilst keeping some of the street players at its core.
5 - Game of Thrones
I never thought i'd want to watch a show with swords in it, but Game of Thrones isn't just a sword waving TV show, it's a fucking bloodbath, and one that pulls on your emotional strings with each passing season. It's cool as shit, has a number of amazing characters and never fails to deliver when called upon. Catch up before it all ends.
Honorable mentions: The Sopranos Fargo Westworld Six Feet Under Arrested Development Curb Your Enthusiasm Rick and Morty It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia The X Files Parks and Recreation Louie Mad Men Justified Boardwalk Empire Spartacus Atlanta The Knick Southland Lost Fringe Terriers Banshee

Breaking Bad is #1 for me. Everything about it was just fantastic...from episode 1 to the series finale. A great ending, which is rare for longer series. I've actually seen it in it's entirety 3 or 4 times...because I kept introducing the show to new people and watching it with them.
I was a big Lost fan when it was going on, even though I know a lot of people wound up hating it. I actually liked the ending.
Westworld season 1 was incredible too! If you haven't seen it I would definitely suggest checking it out.
Dexter was great until about season 5....then it completely flamed out for me.
In terms of comedies/sitcoms...Parks and Rec, The Office, Modern Family, and yes, Big Bang Theory. It's funny, I used to despise BBT, but actually got really attached to the characters one day and started to like it.
I'm sure I'm forgetting others, but those are probably top for me.
I haven't had the chance to see The Wire yet...and I'm sure when I do that'll be on my top list.

even though i absolutely despise what they did to the final season, Dexter will always be my number one series. i think. it sounds weird but i connect to him on so many levels (not on the murderer level, i swear i'm not that fucked up) and i am absolutely fascinated and have always been by forensics.
unlike a lot of people i actually liked every seasons storyline - except, like i already mentioned, the endings. i also think i like the series as much as i do because i used to always watch it with one of my sisters back when we both lived at home and now we don't and it's weird watching dexter alone.

Breaking Bad has always been my #1 show. It was unpredictable. Cinematography was amazing. The cast was great & won a couple of awards for their roles.
Game of Thrones is a close second for me. I'm not even gonna say anything about it.
Stranger Things - I know there's only one season so far but man, is it great. (Season 2 coming up in October)
Dexter - First few seasons were gold.
Lost - Ending was weird but overall a great show with lots of supernatural elements.
House of Cards - Frank & Claire fuckin' Underwood
Westworld - Jurassic Park but robots instead of dinos
Better Call Saul - Most of the elements that made Breaking Bad a great show are present on this one as well.
Daredevil - Gritty telling of the Marvel character
Peaky Blinders - Love the 1920's vibe of this show.
I watch a few more but these are the ones that came to mind.
Comedy shows:
The Office Parks & Rec It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Trailer Park Boys The League Silicon Valley How I Met Your Mother Scrubs That 70's Show

The first show that comes to mind is the office US. I fell in love with the characters and the dialogue. It went down hill when Michael left but i still enjoyed it. Now i'm finally getting in to Arrested Development after all these years

In no order..
Game of Thrones Sons of Anarchy Breaking Bad Freaks and Geeks Third Watch The Sopranos Vikings M*A*S*H Turn Viva La Bam/Wildboyz/Jackass
Honorable Mentions: The Walking Dead Boardwalk Empire Peaky Blinders Prison Break Lost The Unit
Potential: Stranger Things Westworld Frontier
I know I'm missing a bunch, but this is what I came up with. If I'm not watching a series like these, I'm almost always watching some kind of survivalist/homesteading show (Survivor Man, Alone, Naked and Afraid, Dual Survival, The Last Alaskans, Alaska: The Last Frontier) or Impractical Jokers
