I'll throw my favorites in I guess.
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance: Yeah I'm gonna be that guy that lists this one and not the PS1 original. This was my first time with a final fantasy game if you don't count me watching my cousins play thorough VI when I was younger. I still have my original copy and the savefile is now at 329hrs. I absolutely loved its follow up on the DS
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2: Grimoire of the Rift: Which now that I think about it, my only other true favorite FF game was 12 and all of these take place on the continent of Ivalice. The world was so vibrant and fleshed out. You couldn't help but feel like it was an established world with actual history.
Persona 5: This fucking game. I could easily put 4 on this list as well but this game had just so much more than JRPG Scooby Doo. This game is amazing and all but really, for me, this game is easily carried by its soundtrack. SHOJI MEGURO IS A FUCKING KING.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch: (if it isn't clear by now I mainly rpgs) I'm gonna have to chalk to this one up to my love of Pokemon and Studio Ghibli. I can get lost in the atmosphere of this game for hours and the artstyle is just enough to make me feel nostalgic over the first time I watched Spirited Away or Porco Rosso. Although the sequel was a slight departure in terms of story and combat, not to mention the exit of Studio Ghibli's collaboration, it was still pretty good tbh.
Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga: I didn't play Mario RPG when it originally released on account of I was only 2 when it released but later on when I was elementary school, my friends and I were obsessed with this game. The music, the story telling, and of course the refreshing "new" gameplay. Turn-based mario? Hell yeah. Turn-based later on turned out to be cup of tea.
World of Horror: okay I swear I'm not being paid to talk about this game but dude....this is great. DO YOU LIKE JUNJI ITO? DO YOU LIKE H.P.LOVECRAFT? DO YOU LIKE ADVENTURE GAMES WHERE YOU'RE A JPOP IDOL GIRL WHO WANTS TO STOP A MASSIVE SPIDER-LIKE ELDRITCH BEING FROM TAKING OVER YOUR TOWN? Well give it a shot. I usually hate adventure/visual novel type games but I've been following this one for so long that when it finally released I couldn't help but gush over it. Its not perfect cause after all...its one person making it as a side project but its shaping up to be a very promising little game. I'll leave a trailer at the bottom
Twisted Metal 4 What a shame this series died. Playing this game was insane when whipped out at birthday parties. Also it had fucking Dragula in its OST and little 5 year old me was stoked.
I'm sure I'm missing a LOT but these were the ones that came to mind initially.
