Yeh man is a cool place. It's an exciting place to be with all the rebuild happening. And most importantly the sun shines haha. Loads of my mates are real into Pan heads, Tuataras and of course wakachangis haha. Where you at now? I was just visiting my pals in Wellington and touring the South Island. I'm back in the UK now. That's awesome, well apart from being back in U.K, Wellington is a real cool place I like it there. Did you get to see much of the sights and sounds of the rest of NZ? And sample some of the beers? This is the beer thread after all.

So I went to my favorite grocery store in Shanghai to browse their beer selection since that Guinness my wife's family bought for me was a tragedy. If I was just getting into beer, this selection would really resonate with me. However, now that I have refined my tastes, it's a bit boring. But strikingly different selection from what I'm used to seeing. To contrast the typical grocery store selections in the US, the stores here in Shanghai feature a lot of European beers, mostly Wheat beers and stuff in that category. Thankfully, my longtime favorite Hefeweizen was on sale. I got two of the Franziskaner Hefeweizen bottles, buy one get one free. Guess I'll have to change my beer preferences until I find some good IPAs.

This was delicious. I did not know this beer or Brewery. Looked it up, says from Wisconsin. Are you in Wisconsin? I auditioned for Milwaukee Symphony last year and had my absolute favorite beer in that city. Wish I could go back and get it again.

I live about an hour north of Milwaukee. What was your absolute favorite beer? Please say Spotted Cow.... (fingers 🤞...)

(fingers 🤞...) Aha! I kinda liked Milwaukee a bit! Was a little annoyed with how much construction was going on in the downtown, which is where I was staying during the audition, but I think it's a cool place. I've not heard of Spotted Cow, most likely due to never having been so North in the US prior to that audition. I was actually thinking if we should have like a separate thread to post our favorite beer, or if we may start a mini thread within this one for that. I'm curious what everyone's favorite is. My favorite was actually an import from Denmark, which only ships to one US city...Milwaukee! It's called Warpigs Lazurite IPA, and is the most amazing taste I've ever had in my mouth.

Ah, yeah, the construction was probably due to the Buck’s new arena, Fiserv Forum. New Glarus Spotted Cow is delicious, although it’s not an IPA; in fact, New Glarus beers are exclusively sold only in Wisconsin and nowhere else, and people have actually gotten in trouble for trying to sell it in Illinois and Minnesota. They’re probably my favorite brewery along with O’so, which is based in Plover. Both breweries have been the only ones where I’ve liked all the beers I’ve tried from them. Stone Brewery is actually quite good as well. The best beer I’ve ever drunken so far has got to be a Samuel Smith Brewing Organic Chocolate Stout. That brew is utterly fantastic and extremely chocolatey, and I think it’s only sold in bomber bottles.

Yeah me and the wife basically spent 5 days in Wellington with our friends (Did Tuatara, Garage Project, Heyday and most of the decent beer bars there) before flying to Nelson and touring the South Island. We went to Blenheim, Kaikoura, Peketa, Christchurch, Akaroa, Tekapo, Queenstown, and Dunedin before flying home. Pretty much drank beer at every place we went to as well. A lot of the more remote places was just whatever I could find in the supermarkets but we went to Moa when were were up in Nelson which was p cool!

I'm working away in Akaroa for the next few weeks actually. If you get the chance you should check out TeAnau and Milford sounds those places are amazing. The main breweries in christchurch are Harrington's and 3 boys. Both are good and there are a shitload of other smaller ones too.

We did a nice boat trip there and looked around the French-themed village they have. Saw some dolphins too, always a bonus!
