So who here cooks?
Once my wife got pregnant two years ago I started to do a lot of the cooking around the house.
I really specialize in Grilling (smoking) /outdoor cooking but I can do quite a bit in the kitchen now as well and I am really starting to enjoy it.
Tonight I am doing a crawfish boil for some friends, super stoked on it. One of my favorite things to cook for sure. Ill take pictures and post them up tonight after I finish.

I like cooking, but not super skilled. My go to food is usually fry chicken in coconut oil and some kebab/gyros seasoning, heat up a tortilla in leftover oil, some corn, beans, onion, grate cheese on it and have fun.
I like experimenting though, lately learnt how to make french toast. Like I said, I am a beginner haha.
I also like making salads. Usually my favourite things to cook are done on a frying pan.

My wife works at a french pâtisserie so she's teaching me to bake some things and she's got the whole mexican cuisine down thanks to background so gimme a few months and I'm gonna be stuntin in the kitchen (or not). Currently I can make a mean omelet. That's about it.

was a (very good) chef for like 4 years, but that was like 7 years ago. I hate cooking now and can't stand my own food. Tesco £3 meal deals for me.
Cooking is a great skill, but Cooking is a terrible job.

Cooking is a great skill, but Cooking is a terrible job. That usually goes like that - you enjoy doing it in your freetime, but once you are forced to do something, it becomes a terrible chore.

I really enjoy cooking. Majority of the time I'm lazy, but if I have stuff laying around to make then I will.
Got the hang of making my own pasta sauce, learned from my mum who learned from her parents so to me it's fucking delicious. Now I just need to make eggplant like my Grandfather does, oooooooooooooooboi.

I've started taking cooking a little more seriously since moving into my own place a few months ago. Makes a big difference having a well stocked kitchen with good quality implements.
I can recommend the Yummly website/app for finding recipes you like. You can just enter a type of cuisine or some ingredients and go from there.
We should start posting pics of our creations in this thread.

I've been cooking for a couple of years now but I mainly dabble in basic puertorrican foods.
Want to learn more for sure.

I want to share a recipe with you guys. My buddy gave it to me a couple years ago and it has been a huge hit at get togethers. Good recipe for having friends over, drinking, and nothing formal at all.
The Classic Shrimp Boil
There are a ton of different variations of this recipe but this one I have done many of times and always done something a little different and it always turns out awesome. This can be done on your stove top and when your done just pour it out and spread it on the table for everyone to enjoy. Easy and delicious.
What you will need:
-Boiling Pot (A built in strainer is key here if you want to make multiple batches plus it is just a whole lot easier.)
Ingredients: (You can make multiple batches so you do not need to be exact on how much you get) -Shrimp (Raw and Unpeeled) -Red Potatoes (Small ones; you do not need to cut. Larger ones; cut them up to make them a bit smaller so they cook easier and absorb the flavors) -Mushrooms -Corn (Cut into 3 inch's) -Sausage (I use the cooked sausage, it's easier) -Lemons (cut in half) -Butter -Liquid Shrimp Boil (4 oz per batch depending on the size of your pot) -Old Bay Seasoning -Tony C's (or your favorite creole mix)
How to Cook it: 1. Fill pot half way with water and turn it to high heat 2. Pour in Seasoning and liquid shrimp boil. Throw in lemons. Add a tablespoon (or more) of cayenne if you like the spice. 3. Bring to rolling boil. 4. Add potatoes. Cook 10 mins. 5. Add Mushrooms, Sausage, Corn. Cook for 8 mins. 6. Add thawed shrimp and cook exactly 3 mins. (DO NOT OVERCOOK THE SHRIMP) 7. Take the pot off the heat and add some ice to cool the water down to 160 degrees (This is when the shrimp will stop cooking) 8. Let soak in water for as long as you want bearing that you got it down to 160-170 degrees. *The Longer you soak it the spicier it will be* 9. Drain contents and serve on a table for everyone to eat. 10. Drink a beer and enjoy!
Let me know if you have any questions!

I love cooking, its super relaxing to me. Just take 1-2 hours off at the end of the day, crank up some music and just chop and stir away.

I've really started to put a lot of effort into my cooking now days, especially when I decide to make everything from scratch. I made this Mac n Cheese burger awhile back I made the mac and cheese up, cooled it down, cut it into squares and crumbed and deep fried them, then made up your standard coleslaw and mayonnaise mix and threw that on top, also caramelised some onion in sweet baby rays BBQ sauce and added bacon to the mix as well. I also whipped up this garlic and bacon carbonara
