New year, new thread. A place to discuss films you're most excited for in 2018.
The UK gets films later than the US around this time of year, so I'm still waiting for the releases of The Shape of Water, Lady Bird and I, Tonya.

Always been a fan of Wes Anderson's films and style/style of humor. Def looking forward to this.

essien new Hosoda coming soon: Stoked. I mean, all I got from the trailer was that it has a young child and a school girl and the animation looks perfect, but stoked because it's Hosoda.

Second trailer for the new Tomb Raider movie dropped. I wouldn't normally get excited about a video game adaptation but I really liked the specific Tomb Raider game that this is based on and I think Alicia Vikander looks good as Lara. I despised the Angelina Jolie version. The director is pretty fresh too so keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't suck.

Not really upcoming (maybe in the UK though) - Annihilation will definitely be one of my favorite movies of this year - if you're into Sci-Fi. Looking forward to Sicario 2: Soldado. Loved Sicario, so I'm hoping this one doesn't go off the rails and remains just as gritty.

What we saying about A Quiet Place? I find it oxymoronic that we're talking about a film where silence plays a major role in the plot. Regardless, I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

I really enjoyed the first film, and i don't ever like dumb action movies so i was reluctant to go to it, at first knowing nothing about it. But it was very obviously more complex than that, and i got a kick out of it. That said, this sequel is NOT written nor directed by Guillermo del Toro as the first one was. Granted, he has had involvement, and is a prominent producer, but i'm not expecting the same quality film. Nonetheless, i'll still give it a shot. I'm sure it'll be fun. Just give me lots of Charlie Day.
