I was thinking, it'd be really nice to get laid this year.

I really need to quit smoking, although I have gone down from a regular smoker to a "social smoker" over the past 5 years, I still gotta quit. I wake up in the morning, absolutely no desire to smoke throughout the entire day but after work and after I get my son to sleep, having a cocktail, a smoke, and listening to music is my ultimate escape.
I still live a pretty healthy life. Workout frequently, eat great, drink only water... It is just those damn cigarettes!

Goals: Lose weight - 195(88.5kg) to 160(72.5kg) is the goal. I got down to 162 in June but stopped dieting and gained it all back haha. The hard goal is by May 1st but I'm guessing I can get there early March House down payment - my long time girlfriend Rachael and I are saving for a house pretty aggressively. The metro Atlanta housing market is a circus so we're pinching every penny. A bigger down payment can make a huge difference. writing a book - I have been outlining a story that I want to try to sit down and write in earnest. We'll see how that goes. putting a ring on it -

''The Marsh helps v9733xa get laid'' Does this mean the Mosh is gonna start up a Gofundme for v9733xa ’s New Year resolution? A guaranteed way we can ensure he hits his goal with a fundraiser is if we raise him money to fly to Vietnam or Thailand. Edit: Or money for a babe magnet car!

I'm more of a goal setter type of person than a resolutions, so here are my goals: - Run 360km / 225 miles - Boulder 3 V5/6C boulders - Toprope climb 3 6c+/5.11a routes - Prepare meal for the office each day in January to expand my kitchen skills - Read 10 books I think these are the big ones for now. Might post later if a new one pops up. Great thread btw! My January started very strong with running 87.9km/54.6miles, so I bumped up my yearly goal to finish somewhere between 800-1000km/500-620miles. Ideally I'd like to reach 1000km/620miles.

Update on mine, since January is pretty much done...
- I've managed to reduce my social media use a lot. Deactivated my Facebook, unfollowed pretty much everyone except my friends on Instagram and got rid of my personal Twitter account. Still find myself distracted by my phone more than I'd like.
- Finished two books. Technically I'd started them in 2018 but I'm counting them for this year.
- Watched 4/50 films on my list.
- Spent some time learning Spanish every day this year (I've just hit my first 100 day streak in Duo Lingo)
So far, so good.

We'll see how that goes. putting a ring on it - Little past the middle of the year update! I lost about 20lb early in the year but gained it all back in April/May. Since then I'm down about 10 now on a much more consistent but slow diet, so just need to keep up the willpower and let the habit set in. House down payment is coming along well. We're at about 12% of our 20% goal. That's off the back of some super aggressive savings. All of my freelance work cash, the majority of her paycheck, and both of our tax returns have been set aside. It'll probably be middle or late next year that we can look to make that move. Writing is hard - I have about 40,000 words and I don't know what to do or where to go. I'd ramble on forever and never take the story anywhere. I'm happy that I at least have some pages together but it's a hot mess haha. Putting a ring on it: September 24th I don't have the ring yet, but I'm settled on the date.

Putting a ring on it: September 24th I don't have the ring yet, but I'm settled on the date. Congrats on the many successes here! Keep up the good work! I used to want to write a book, as I always enjoyed writing. But like you said, it’s quite easy to ramble and also go nowhere. It’s SO MUCH harder than I expected it to be. In the end, I decided it wasn’t really my thing. Well, actually, it’s funny that I say that, because I actually did write and publish a book. I nearly forgot! About 100 pages, my dissertation for my doctorate, where I analyzed two violin sonatas by Krzysztof Penderecki. But other than that, when I tried writing what I truly wanted to write about, it turned into word diarrhea. Oh well. You gonna do something big for the ring day? I really wanted to surprise my wife somehow special, but the timing and circumstances of our engagement were so rotten that it just didn’t seem like there was a chance to do much. It’s crazy when I look at how things went with that day and compare to this couple I work with who just got engaged. They literally went on vacation to some crazy island with an active volcano, they were up near the rim, and the dude proposed to her up there, and got the whole thing on camera somehow with a flying drone thing! The video is kinda blowing up on the internet right now, but I’m trying not to care...hahaha
