Seeing as this is gunna be how shows are for the foreseeable future, has anyone played any yet? Anyone attended any? Do you think it's too early?
I've apparently been booked for one in a few weeks which if it goes ahead i'll post about in this thread after, but whats everyones thoughts/experiences so far?
My first thought has been this would be the best time to attend shows that aren't hardcore, like stuff i can just sit back and watch you know, hoping London garage rock shows are still a thing because nobody moved at those in the first place so won't feel any different.

As a guy who hates standing in too crowded places I see this as a blessing. Enough space to enjoy yourself without people trying to pass you to go to the front or leave when there is 0 room to move. If it's too early? There is no cure yet and it's just a really rare situation where we just can't do anything about it. Over here the event business is having a hard time since our government (Dutch) doesn't really care about events/festivals or at least see it as the last thing on their list to fix when there is a cure.

Oh seems like the government here don't care either. Seeing alot of venues doing crowdfunders, event crews on marches through cities here.

I'm not entirely sure whats gonna happen with shows.
I saw some photos of a bar that had tons of little circles on the ground and you had to stay in those. that feels off. I also saw somewhere in the UK where the had an outdoor stage and every few feet people had like... picnic tables?
Either way, I feel like it's weird no matter what. One thing I love about shows is the energy the crowd gives back to the band, and you can just tell they're so into it making them go harder. They just feed off each other and you can tell how much fun everyone is having.
Cue to a show today, everyone in their little "bubbles", not able to leave them, just standing their not doing anything. Heavy shows are gonna feel off. I want to so badly see a show, but I want to see a show I saw last year. The crowd losing their mind, people moshing their hearts out, stage diving and screaming along with the lyrics.
I will be going to those "bubble" shows when they eventually happen, just cause I'm dying and NEED to see a show soon or I'm gonna go crazy. But I think shows are gonna suck until theres a vaccine and everyone has taken it. The threat of the non-vacers bleed into the music scene and WILL kill shows for us.
I miss 2019.

It would solve the crowdkilling thing, first row has to know lyrics for the singalongs and stagediving would look like wrestling.

There's two coming up in London in the next few weeks, the one i'm playing is apparently in the yard of some building, apparently the yard can have 800 people in but they're only letting in 100, the other at a skatepark in London. I'm cautious about both as one that took place in Bristol a few weeks back looked like no masks, no social distancing and people attempting to have a mosh (i dont blame them because we are all desperate for a good time but i don't wanna be apart of that)Then the police shut it down.
I'm told by the promoter the show i'm playing you have to stay in the groups you arrive with, and i think its like groups of five or something so i think i'll be standing with my band all day and shouting across the room to everyone else. But yea will get some photos and stuff of the lay out for anyone curious on the show or want ideas on how to set up DIY shows (if it works out)

Personally I kinda like it. Your own personal space. It's far better than nothing at all.

I absolutely will not go to or play a show anytime in the US in the near future. I don’t see us doing anything until 2021 at least, especially in the south.

It seems so strange for me. I can imagine some classical concerts or pop like that, but to imagine a band like Counterparts or While She Sleeps playing like that is incomprehensible for me.

Same, dude. That's the thing I can't see happening. I don't know how many shows I've been to where I'm like "yeah, I'm just gonna stand at the back" and 30 seconds later I'm stage diving...

Can confirm the socially distanced show didn't work. People got drunk, started moshing, venue gave about 5 announcements for people to just sit down or the show would be shut down. Noone listened and the show was shut down (right before i was meant to play aswell) Lessons learned are don't try all dayers, block off the front of the stage like make it impossible to dance and limit the amount of people by advance tickets only
