Is this actually terrible or are people just shitting on it because it's a franchise that isn't Marvel? I like Cruise and the classic horror monsters, so I'll at least check it out when I can torrent it. i saw it not knowing much about the dark universe franchise reboot or how much hate it was getting, its just in general not a good film. the plot sucks, they didnt really build the characters up. they tried going right into action scenes (which were decent) and then would fill in the plot holes by having a character explain to another character what was going on.

I watched this on my plane ride home last week. I pretty much echo everyone else by saying 'it's a waste of time'. It starts off with a decent airplane crash set piece but then it gradually gets less and less interesting as it goes on. If this is the benchmark for the Dark Universe, I'm not coming back for more

Can he even act? He’s literally “Tom Cruise” in everything I’ve seen him in! Tropic Thunder This movie got way too much shit imo. It wasn't good, but it wasn't terrible either. Solid 5/10 and Russell Crowe was good enough that I'll probably check out the other movies in the "franchise" after they're released.

Can he even act? He’s literally “Tom Cruise” in everything I’ve seen him in! His finest moments for me are Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July and A Few Good Men but he doesn't really stray far from the Tom Cruise wardrobe when it comes to haircuts, accents, or anything that separates him from his usual personality. At least he does a lot of his own stunts I guess.
