How does everyone feel about most pits? What are your unofficial rules? Push, Swing, Slam preference?
I love mosh pits, all kinds. I usually wait and see how the rest of the crowd is, if everyone is just pushing ill stick to that. If people are swinging ill go with that.
My biggest pet peeve about pits is beer. No offense to anyone, I know its probably an unpopular opinion but, I hate when people go get a full beer then go stand in the mosh pit. If you want to enjoy a nice beverage go stand where people wont push into. It only bothers me because beer gets on the floor and the pit becomes a slip n' slide.

push pits are stupid and dangerous.
Much rather get punched in the face and get immediatly picked up instantly by someone, then get trampled by a bunch of drunk idiots.

For me it's adjusting the mosh to the crowd, band and genre. I'm all into violent dancing. I have no problem with getting punched in the face or getting kicked against the chest etc. pp., but please not at a Youthcrew Hardcore show. That's not the place where I expect this. So be a fucking "tough guy" at a beatdown hardcore show, go do some highkicks during sickass metallic hardcore jams. Side to side's, stagedives and stomping to some hardcore punk bands. Do what you want to have fun but look how the crowd is reacting. Does it suit the music? Also if you hit someone quick check if he/she's alright. Pick people up who fall. Go hard, get some mosh on you too, have a great time and don't purposely smash someones face to pieces, because that isn't what you want on yourself.
Hope I didn'T forgot anything, but yeah that's what I do.

Pits are always fun, but there's one rule I have and it's never swing at someone who's not moshing! Especially if they're watching the performance and don't see you coming!

I'm ok with push moshing and throwing down, but when people try to do both in the same space things can get messy. The biggest thing I hate are people who try to start fights and shit for no reason. If someone isn't actively participating in the moshpit, you should do everything you can to not get them involved. Don't punch them, don't pull/push them into the moshpit. Also don't hold a grudge if someone hits you. Chances are it was an accident, that kind of shit happens all the time.

Crowd killing does my fucking head in. Don't attack people on the edge of the pit especially if it's a small venue and theres no room to back up and theres plenty of room in the pit

How do we abolish circle pits? No one likes them, bands always ask for them. I don't get it They look good from the stage so it will never end haha British people 110% can't circle pit, it's like a mystery to us. Baffled how bands haven't caught on to that yet. Whats the deal with human pyramids at gigs though? But yea i think standard goes, if you clip someone hard, apologise. Pick people up. Look where you're going. I personally believe in always trying to catch stage divers, but yea people seem to be stage diving well different now and kinda doesn't even involve actually landing on top of people anymore. Oh and while not a rule, just what i think a way to keep it a bit friendlier, if you're going hard with a few people in a pit just a little communication with each other between songs (a fist bump, slap on the back, check everyones alright, nothing huge just something ya know?)

I may catch some slack for this but (im not trying to come off offensive) but if you are overweight please refrain from stage diving. I understand that going to a show is about having fun but while you're having "fun" you can also potentially be hurting someone who physically can't withstand a force like that coming down on them
