The anime one was very pretty but it suffered from exposition overload. I know it's only 15 minutes... but show don't tell (which is ironic for such a pretty short)!

Very stoked on this one! Villeneuve has certainly been crushing it. Sicario was outstanding - may be among my favorites. Prisoners was great. Arrival was excellent. I have not seen Enemy though.

I was pretty disappointed with this movie, which is a shame as I like everyone involved in the making of it. I just find the premise, setting and everything far too removed from anything I can connect with and feel something towards. Maybe that's the point of it all, making the audience feel like a Replicant in the process? Ah well..

Just rewatched the original the other day, going to see the new one this week at some point, hoping it does not disappoint!

Big fan of the original and I really liked the new one. I feel like people are kidding themselves if they're going to watch it without having an understanding or having seen at least one of the original cuts haha

I feel like people are kidding themselves if they're going to watch it without having an understanding or having seen at least one of the original cuts haha It's basically the same story. I haven't seen the original for 10 years + and I had no trouble understanding the new one, there's just a few little questions in the new one they didn't really explain; What's the point in Jared Leto's character? I assume that's explained in the shorts. Is he just trying to recreate the perfect duplicate of Harrison Ford's girl all along?
Did Leto and his 'angel' have the dream maker girl working for them? If so, why send Gosling on a wild goose chase?
What relationship did Bautista have to Ford?

What relationship did Bautista have to Ford? 1) Leto's character wanted to study Ford's daughter specifically because she was born from a replicant (Sean Young), which was thought to be impossible. 2) She did work on behalf of Leto's company here and there, but because no one ever guessed she was the daughter, no one ever suspected, until Gosling put the pieces together. 3) Bautista's character was a medic and a Nexus-8 replicant before he hid himself away as a farmer. As you recall, Ford helped many of them hide in the past between this film and the original Blade Runner, so there's that, and also Bautista performed the emergency c-section to help give birth to Ford's daughter, later burying Sean Young's character in that ossuary beneath the tree in his front yard.
