this thread is for people who have heard/seen vein so here is a link if you haven't veinband.bandcamp.com/ I am 28 years old and grew up and still live in Massachusetts. most of my teen years was spent going to shows at fat cats, Cabot st, and the waterfront in western mass, the qvcc, raw bar, and palladium in central mass. last but not least the revered tigers den in brockton. featuring Colin of Arabia, Black My Heart, and most notably On Broken Wings. I have been following vein since their self titled demo I grabbed off of the daily mosh back in 2013. since then it seems mostly after playing TIHC '17 they have gained a huge following and support from all over. with all this being said I personally have noticed a positive response not only from the mass scene but all over. in the manner of going absolutely ape shit! I personally have not seen a band with as much energy or a crowd with such a violent response since the good old days of going to an OBW show. closing questions. does anybody agree or feel in different to this? could this be the return of mosh metal aesthetic as a whole? Is this the band that Massachusetts has been waiting for? will we get to see this band stand the hardcore test of time? (another 4 years maybe?)

I am so glad this sound is back, it has been my favorite for the past decade from the bands that got me into heavy music. Obviously everything is music does about a 10-15 year turn around so it is about that time for this to come back. I fully support it.
It is pretty funny how these kids in vein and their friends werent maybe 10-12 years old or younger when OBW/BMH were huge.

I don't hear a lot of Black My Heart in it, but it definitely has that angry an spastic On Broken Wings vibe in it.

Vein isn't doing anything new, but they are doing it well. The hype machine has a full blown hold on that band. Kids who have never heard music like that before (due to their own ignorance) are losing their shit. I like them but there's plenty of bands from like 98-2004 who did the sound first, and better imo. Gonna go listen to A Life Once Lost Now

I love that they are bringing this style back and this pretty good. They bring up a solid show with a lot of energy so I guess the current hype is well deserved and I hope they keep it up and can tour Europe soon. So "yay".

Otherwise we should all be listening to only Bad Brains, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Judge and Rorschach. You can't blame younger people for not knowing cultbands like On Broken Wings (not really known outside of the US) or Coalesce.

Tried this band today. Mixed feelings. I dont have the yay feeling from the beginning. But will give it a second try and will listen the full length when ready.
One comment on bandcamp was kinda funny though: "this is the evolution hardcode needs" one said. Its funny to read about different point of views. Its all about perspective and what you have been used to.

Vein is one of the better "metalcore" influenced hardcore bands right now. I think there are quite a few out that are getting hype because the style is really hyped right now, but other than a handful of bands I find it extremely boring. With Vein I feel like their intensity and their crowds borderline killing each other gives them a different feel than most.

Do you have any links to their albums? I'm having a hard time finding zip's of them.

i finally checked em out and really dig it. i get a heavy daughters/scenegrind vibe mixed with the moshiness of obw and the weirdness of botch. far and away the most interesting thing i have heard in a minute.

I like these dudes. There aren't many bands who do that whole chaotic metalcore sound well but these guys and gif. from God both do it superbly. Even better is the split they put out together.

Really heavy live show, a friend of the chick I went to the show with got like 5 teeth knocked for this band. Super bummed I was outside the venue for that one. It has more complexity than a lot of "hardcore" bands, but as a lot of people have said, absolutely nothing new. If they move away from the grind/math/breakdown formula that literally all of their songs have, and into some actual songwriting territory I'd be a lot more hyped. Regardless, lots of kids these days don't know shit about the older eras and it is definitely a good thing that a band like this is getting a lot of attention right now. Hopefully they really work hard on the next release now that they are signed.
