Really heavy live show, a friend of the chick I went to the show with got like 5 teeth knocked for this band. Super bummed I was outside the venue for that one. It has more complexity than a lot of "hardcore" bands, but as a lot of people have said, absolutely nothing new. If they move away from the grind/math/breakdown formula that literally all of their songs have, and into some actual songwriting territory I'd be a lot more hyped. Regardless, lots of kids these days don't know shit about the older eras and it is definitely a good thing that a band like this is getting a lot of attention right now. Hopefully they really work hard on the next release now that they are signed. I hear quite often that people get "angry" about newer bands playing older styles of Hardcore. Especially when the kids think it's awesome. People often forget that no one would know about the 90s style Hardcore if these bands don't bring it back to the surface. I only can talk for myself - I'm born in '95 and I'm really glad that all these bands playing old shit because I might have never heard a word about all the H8000 bands or older Beatdown bands such as Irate. So I'm reliving the 90s for 2 years now and I don't want it to stop.

I'm from '92 and I have found for the last couple years or so that going back to older records and styles that I didn't get to see as much live back then has been FAR more rewarding for me than most new records. It's great when you find a brand new band, or an old band you love puts out a great new record like Integrity just did, but that shit is few and far between. During periods of the year when there aren't a lot of releases to look forward to, going back to the old shit is the best. Why would you ignore it when hardcore has such a beautiful and storied history?

I don't consider them mosh metal in any way, or relate them to h8000 bands at all. Then again, I also don't consider h8000 mosh metal...It's just metallic hardcore to me. But my view on Vein can be easily summed up with the first time I ever encountered them...When I first saw the bands merch and the record art work, I was like ok theyre an artsy band...Prolly with some weird time signatures. A couple years later, I saw them live and while I was blown away by their very Converge/As The Sun Sets stage antics..They're still a very awkard, artsy band. Needless to say, they had my attention after that.

Not digging them, personally. However, they are making noise, so they are definitely doing something right.

Vein deserves any form of attention that comes their way. Extremely hard working and talented band as long as I've known about them they have always been on the road. As far as people being on the hype train about em, yall are late.
