“I love going on tour with bands that are bigger than us so that we can just rip them apart musically,”
How old are these guys? Sixteen?

Their recent music deserves all the hate, but Seventh Trumpet is still a good album.

Its not the music that deserves the hate here. It's his bullshit elitist attitude.

Pretty douchy stuff to stay, but Sounding The Seventh Trumpet, Waking The Fallen, City of Evil and Self Titled will always have a soft spot in my heart. you took the words right out of my mouth. I am very glad I didn't get a death bat tattoo like I wanted to at 17 though lol

I wouldn't disagree with them at all actually. My band is much more complex and chaotic than any other band in our local area and we definitely don't "fit in" with the hardcore scene. It's hilarious because most of us have been going to hardcore shows much, much longer than anyone else in the local band scene in our area. We have intricate guitar parts, crazy drum fills and strange time-signatures so the hardcore scene pegs us as "too metal." We for sure don't fit in in the death metal scene because we have "breakdowns" occasionally. We don't fit in with the metalcore or deathcore scenes because we were never scene kids. The hardcore scene is my home. It's what I know and it's all I want to know. When your band is overlooked by the hype machine that is the hardcore scene however, it leaves a horrible taste in your mouth. We see shitty band after shitty band composed of 5 18 year old kids who just listened to whatever band is popular at the current moment and they try to recreate the same mediocre music and its a cycle. Unless you are a scene celebrity your band gets no recognition. It may be different over seas but here in the US, trendy bullshit gets chewed up and spit out at you and before you know it ever kid looks the same, listens to the same bands, dances the same, has rhe same haircut, shoes, tattoos you fucking name it. God forbid someone do something new and truly unique. Everything after Waking The Fallen is weak if you ask me. but I get what M. Shadows is saying. This era of A7X is so much better than most Orange County hardcore bands in their era. Sometimes the social structures of the hardcore scene here in the US, California specifically are pretty fucking off putting. Oh, and it's true, most of the hardcore scene wishes they were more metral, or that their band could be metal. But they aren't willing to start playing past the fourth fret and to stop wearing khaki shorts. posers. I think you're looking at it the wrong way here my dude - no disrespect intended when I say this, but your post reads as incredibly elitist. It's been my experience in my local scene that the bands who strut around as if they're the only rooster in the hen-house get overlooked not because of their talent or image but because they're insufferable egotists who think their scene owes them something (it doesn't.) I don't think anyone wins when you view your other local bands as competition - be a cheerleader for your fellow musicians and celebrate their success, they'll be happy for you when yours comes too. I think it's important to remember that the kids of the scene are your foundation - sure some people are there to socialize, some are there to let off steam, some are there to connect with a part of their scene that enriches them, but in the end everyone is there for the music; and if your music is good people will recognize that and support you - but not if you spit on them for not doing it sooner. Just my 2¢ though - best of luck to you and your band my man. Send me some songs if you've got em recorded, I'd love to have a listen. Full disrespect intended, for sure sounds like like M. Shadows did in the interview. I couldn't see any point of reason beyond "Guys, listen, ive been around A LOT longer than you guys, I know what I'm talking about" And im sure your attitude is more the reason why your band "doesn't fit in" with any of your local scenes.

I am from Orange County and obviously involved in the hardcore scene. The only people around here that respect this band are like nasty, blonde bitches in their late 30's. They are also fucking awful live. It's all ego. We fucking hate your band. We wish you were from somewhere else. He should come run his mouth at Chain Reaction and see what happens

How does this band still exist and are there actually people that listen to them? they just passed through here with metallica a few weeks ago. Friends said they were garbage. They were absolute garbage on that tour. Certainly didn't "tear apart" Metallica. They are cancer.

I ain t pretending to be anything, you're projecting, most likely because of how insecure you are. But I'm not gonna make those kinds of assumptions like you did with me! I judged you based on everything you've given. In no other words could you have justified what you said "My band plays chaotic riffs!!! we're special unique snowflakes!! Nobodies ever heard a divebomb before!! I wonder why our shows only get 3 tickets sold and even they don't show up " Your turn. Try and come at me for my looks next because you're wrong and out of of excuses. Oh wait its a forum. How unfortunate.
