Sorry, gotta ask... what is NWOBHM? Stands for New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Generally speaking, this is that style of metal from the late 70s and through the 80s which really took off in the U.K. I'll post some more when I get on the other side of the Great Firewall again, but I'll say that my interest in this style is more recent than most other styles. As I age, I like more and older stuff. Haha

Satan are my favorite NWOBHM band. They have at least three eras soundwise, as far as I see it, thanks to different vocalists. However, this band is really Brian Ross's baby. This is one of their earliest songs, and I could listen to it over and over all day.

Charger (UK) Here's one of two songs that were released in 1987 by this tragically short-lived outfit Charger. Classic song here. These two songs were their only release, and this is my favorite of the two.

One of my favorites. I can’t believe that people took this band so seriously, I always thought they were hilarious. They are great.

Oh man, we cannot have a NWOBHM thread without Venom. Nice call! "Bursting Out" has to be my favorite Venom song. I have so much appreciation for these guys. They inspired so many of the greatest acts, and naturally were one of the greatest. I haven't really listened to their latest album except for a song, but regardless, they're legends.

They were so far ahead of their time.

Diamond Head: Mega-influential NWOBHM band. Clearly had an influence on Metallica. Metallica even covered this song. DH had a hand in the proto-thrash movement, and had one of the heavier sounds of the 70s bands.
Looking back, I realize already a Diamond Head track has been posted by Clazza. Clearly a great band!

Tokyo Blade: This track is big. It’s from the Warrior of the Rising Sun album, which is an album I’d strongly recommend. I can’t say much about their other material, other than that this album is wildly favored. Funny thought: In the chorus of this song, I felt that the singer reminded me of Geoff Rickley of Thursday fame, during the later era of the band. Not comparable bands at all though.

Angel Witch: Formed in 1978, these guys have proven to be well-known and respected in some communities and rather obscure in others. They had unique song structures for their time, showing progressive metal tendencies at times. This song here is not of the sort, as it is short and sweet, their self-titled song. Classic!

Samurai: One of the most frustrating things about the nwobhm scene is the high volume of bands who put out absolutely killer material, often in the form of only two or three tracks, and then quickly disbanded. Samurai is one of those, only three tracks to their name, not even on their own release. This is the first track on a killer nwobhm compilation disc. This track slays. Everything about this song screams quality. A reunion is long overdue, that’s for sure. At this point, I don’t want them to try again, as I’m sure it would suck this many years later. Anyway, check this song! Great tune!

stringypoo, what compilation is it? I’ve been trying to find one that had been released this year (2018), and nobody’s got it. It’s called “Winds Of Time: The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal 1979-1985”

It’s called “Winds Of Time: The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal 1979-1985” This one is called Roksnax. Three bands on it. Released in December, 1980. I have not heard of the compilation you’re looking for, but I’d also be interested in seeing it’s contents.
