Breaking Benjamin - Ember Coheed & Cambria - The Unheavenly Creatures 3. Beartooth - Disease 4. Architects - Holy Hell 5. Bury Tomorrow - Black Flame 6. Parkway Drive - Reverence Breaking Benjamin and Coheed are my 2 favorite bands of all-time so those are interchangeable. I've loved everything those 2 bands have ever recorded. I only heard about Beartooth a few weeks ago when their song " Disease" came on the radio but I was instantly hooked. This will sound cliche but it spoke to me. The whole album did. For those that don't know (which is pretty much everyone here, even xNickyUrinex), I have a liver disease called primary sclerosing cholangitis. I also have another called autoimmune hepatitis. I've also started having seizures this year. First in May, and again in October. Most likely caused by vitamin deficiencies due to the PSC. As a result of these seizures, I'm not allowed to drive unless I go 6 months without having one. Well, as you can imagine, I've been a little depressed lately, mostly because my parents and friends have to drive me everywhere. I hate being a passenger when someone else is driving. But listening to this album has helped a lot, along with the new Architects. Now that share time is over, onto the next two. Been a fan of Bury Tomorrow since their first album. Best cleans of any metalcore band in my opinion. As for Parkway Drive, I know a lot of people hated it but I was never a big fan of their "all screaming" style so this album was more up my alley.

I will at some point do a thread with my reviews of each of these albums, a little more in depth like last year. That being said it's almost the end of January and I haven't released my list yet. I will do a quick Top 5 of my favourite albums by genre (I'll just use the Downloads Sections as references for Genre's) sometime in the next few days. Without further ado..
Top 10 Albums Of 2018:
(In No Particular Order)
Artist - Album
1 - Outre-Tomb - Necro Vortex 2 - Tribulation - Down Below 3 - The Armed - Only Love 4 - Convulsing - Grievous 5 - Zeal & Ardor - Stranger Fruit 6 - Vein - ErrorZone 7 - Gost - Possessor 8 - Harms Way - Post Human 9 - Boston Manor - Welcome To The Neighbourhood 10 - Post Malone - Beerbongs & Bentleys
EDIT: After deep thought, I changed Outer Heaven to Convulsing, I think overall it's a better album and after back to back listens of each I believe it's better suited to a spot on my list.

I love seeing Outre-Tombe on a top 10 list. Nice pick there. I never got around to getting Tribulation’s new one but I intended to.

I love seeing Outre-Tombe on a top 10 list. Nice pick there. I never got around to getting Tribulation’s new one but I intended to. Choosing Death Metal albums this year was really difficult, so many great ones came out, It was really a toss up between Outer Heaven, Obliteration, and Convulsing for me as I listened to those albums the most this year. I could make a top ten Death Metal albums list fairly easy. I'm sad that you were disappointed in Outer Heaven's album this year, personally I thought it was well written and performed and that although it's not anything groundbreaking it was a banger from start to finish and required the listener to play the entire thing in a sitting to fully appreciate it.

Funny enough, death metal is my favorite style of metal but I didn’t hear the new one from Convulsing. Not even sure I’ve ever heard that band before. If I were to go back to my list and edit, I would certainly be putting High on Fire in the top 10, rather than just an honorable mention. That album is quite a grower. Regarding Outer Heaven...I know! I’m frustrated that I didn’t care for it given that their older material was straight up banger to my ears. This new one, however, felt like a death metal band going through identity crisis (like Slayer approaching their God Hates Us All phase) to me. I didn’t like the pseudo-hardcore influences this new album had. Really turned me off fast, and did not improve for me over multiple listens. I found the base sound of this band comparable to Tomb Mold, but I feel Tomb Mold was more my speed, and their album grew on me with each listen. No hate for Outer Heaven, but no love either at this time.

Convulsing's 'Grievous' is a modern death metal classic, a lot of progressive death metal leanings, but so much of it is just slab after slab of amazing riffs. Most of the album is somewhere between a Post Metal Messuggah, and Dormant Ordeal. It's definitely going to require you listen to the album through from start to finish a few times before you really start to see the beauty in it. Let me know if you want a zippy of it and i'll pm you one stringypoo

Let me know if you want a zippy of it and i'll pm you one stringypoo As soon as a saw you post it in the death metal thread I realized I had skipped over it due to a site listing it as black metal. In 2018, I had 0% interest in black metal, as it is a genre that despite many variations, really annoys me with the repetitiveness and continuously shared riffs. But enough of my black metal complaints. I could write a book of complaints for black metal at the moment. I listened to some of Convulsing from your YouTube posting and it was definitely sounding great to me. No need to post a zippy. Pretty sure I can grab it off of realm of metal. But I’ll holler at you if I have no luck. Thanks for sharing. Glad I heard this release.
