I turn 30 in a few weeks and I notice there's more and more things about the younger generation and the modern world that I don't understand. Interested to hear if you guys have similar examples. Here's a few of mine: - YouTube celebrities like PewDiePie, KSI and Logan Paul. Incredibly annoying man-children with questionable values.
- Video game streaming. Why do people want to watch someone else play a game they could play themselves?
- Minecraft. Seems incredibly tedious.
- Fortnite. A simplistic FPS in a cartoon world. I don't get how people become addicted.
- Snapchat. Just use WhatsApp or Instagram?
- Tekashi 6ix9ine. Looks repulsive, known child molester and his music sounds bad.
Post your own old man complaints.

Ok, sorry for this one:
- Rap music went to shit. 6ix9ine is an example, but XXXTENTACION as well. What happened? - All people ruined Facebook, but Twitter lacks Facebook-appeal. - My GIF game went to shit.

People who are FaceTiming their friends without actually talking for minutes at a time, like they're just there in the room with them. To me, this is weird.

And people who say things like 'LOL', 'YOLO', etc.. They're acronyms, not words.

- Tinder - particularly the bios/convo starters. I've never had the app so this is just from screenshots I've seen. Maybe I'm cynical in my old age but the humour people try to go for isn't funny and the tone of voice is cringe af.
- Reddit as a community - it's like people willingly enrol themselves in the online equivalent of China's social credit system. I know the marsh has been known to chase people out of town but at least the regular members all know each other and get some mutual benefit from being part of the site beyond karma.

I turned 30 this year. An adult ex student of mine who is 23 wanted to hang out with me after I quit teaching to prepare for the new job. She tried to get me onto Snapchat, and I refused a lot. Finally got it, and only added her because she was pressuring me to and I had no interest in an that app. She argued that it was different and essential, and I argued that it was a waste of space on my phone because I could just use Facebook messenger or texting. Not only that, but she insisted on doing "snaps" as much as possible, but I always just replied with text instead of pictures, and she found that annoying and to be defeating the purpose of snapchat. Yeah, old man stuff is real. I don't feel I'm missing out but the youngers are always telling me I am...

LOVE. THIS. THREAD.
I turn 29 this Sunday and feel like I am already in my mid 30s for some reason. I will start to gather my list of things that annoy me but everything you guys have posted I 100% agree with, especially the whole YouTube celebrity thing, so fucking weird.

Goddamn, the Youtube thing is real. “Hey, you know, I saw a guy on Youtube ordering snow for his lawn in LA, because he has never seen snow in real life before. Dude is so special.”
Either don’t complain or just take a plane to the north. Give me a break.
Edit: I turn 27 in a month, but I mentally belong in this thread.

Gads. I turn 29 this year. We’re getting old, ladies and gentlemen. I hate the SoundCloud/mumble rappers who have been popular as of late. I don’t understand the appeal. I don’t like/care for the incessant “challenges” today’s younger generation like to do for popularity or because of peer pressure. The only fun challenge was the Ice Bucket challenge, and that raised money for the MLS Fund. I also don’t like the general lack of common sense in today’s world.

One of the older gentlemen here at 35.
I don't like to be that next generation that complains about "kids these days" because, well, hasn't every generation done that? Can't we be the one that doesn't?
No? Okay then. I'll oblige.
I actually think most of the younger generation (so i'm an older Millennial/Generation Y i guess?), that's Generation Z i suppose, is pretty cool. (Other names for them, and of course there's no naming convention here so take these with a grain of salt, are NetGen, Digital Natives, iGeneration... i think this is anyone born from like 1996 to today?)
They go to church less, get pregnant less, always wear seat belts, and grow up thinking they are worth something no matter who they are. That's all awesome!
But some are dumb. I love music as much as anyone, but headphones in your ears all the time is REALLY distracting and i worry about the schoolyear starting up again and even the 7-year-olds walking to school around the block here not looking for cars. Again, i used to walk around with a discman (discman!!) in college so i know, but i don't like that kids now grow up on this stuff and just generally don't seem as aware as we used to be.
The YouTube culture thing is also strange, but i get it... if you were born with a cellphone in your hand basically, you would be addicted to it too.

Kids these days will never understand the pains of having to restart your video game system because one of the toggles was being turned when it was booted up and now everything wants to turn that way.
I'm 32 I got more of this coming, I'm just a little drunk right now and don't care to ramble.
