You know who was dope, a different breed of killer and with blood come cleansing lol at ADBOK. I, Colossus was cool but whatever they're doing with The City is fucking obnoxious. they got really weird and cocky there for a while haha bragging about a surround sound album that never even saw the light of day.

They're still making it, apparently. They've had like 19 crowdfunding campaigns for it (the most recent of which got two donations lol) and they keep saying "soon" every couple of months. There are a couple songs off of it out already and it sounds dated and awful.

I miss bands like "Oakland-Era" Suffokate. dunno, bands like Suffokate and Carnifex were always just second tier-copies in my book. I kinda miss ABRB, but everything after Allegiance was just shit

I kinda miss ABRB, but everything after Allegiance was just shit Carnifex definitely started off as just generic California Deathcore. Their sound was lots of fun and California was the absolute haven for Deathcore at this point (Suicide Silence, Winds of Plague, Suffokate, Carnifex, Elysia, As Blood Runs Black, Arsonists Get All the Girls, need I go on?) so I don't really blame them for that, just kinda where our scene was back then. It wasn't until they put out Hell Chose Me that they started commanding more respect than their peers as an actual "metal" band and that is a trend that has continued with them even today. Suffokate, however, has always been trashy mosh metal. Oakland was generic and the Ricky Hoover material was even more generic, but nonetheless I have enjoyed all of their releases for what they are, would likely download a new one if they ever put something out again. I think I was one of like 6 people that actually enjoyed the Allegiance follow up, nowhere near as good but I felt it was competent enough and had good riffs. That last album though, it's better if we just don't speak of it.

Not that they were big back in the peak deathcore years, but I really miss Signal the Firing Squad. Even something like this simple instrumental was awesome.
Really, I just loved that whole album.

I think that album just kinda gets lumped in because all of the scene kids had Skies Were Filled With Fire on their myspace page for that Gummo quote and of course, "pussies". It's funny how they were just dead for a while and came back with Ricky as a deathcore band.
