I'm not really enjoying these new deathcore releases. Nothing seems to stand out. Maybe I'm finally just getting tired of this genre or this new djenty or Thy Art inspired style just isn't my cup of tea. All though, All Shall Perish's The Price of Existence is still amazing all these years later. I guess my preferred style of deathcore is no longer being made. It's like everyone's just falling for a tight production this year. What are some examples of top songs from these releases that everyone is jamming? Where's that song we'll be playing ten years later or the breakdown you can never forget and have to show someone in your car with the subs pumpin... Yeah but that's just classic confirmation/anchoring bias. We're all more apt to be amazed by something when we're younger, even 10-12 years ago when many people here were "adults" already. They're called your formative years for a reason; you have good memories about those early tunes in a new genre and it's hard to think anything recent is better. I'm the same way with hardcore: i hardly care for anything this decade but i love the melodic hardcore bands of the early and mid 2000s. That's simply because i discovered them then and they remain special to me for helping me find new music. There's plenty of good stuff out now. You just have to think in terms of musical relativism.

I'd be interested to see what the general age group of people who think this is the year of deathcore, and if most are younger in age. I'm not saying these newer deathcore releases are bad. A lot sound solid. I just listen to most of them and either don't remember the songs or never have that itching to come back for more. Maybe I just generally like deathcore to be more melodic and more unique or pronounced riffs and that style isn't being made as often anymore. And in relation to liking older stuff more because of having good memories and the freshness of a new genre... The last few years has many of my favorite albums of the last decade in many different metal genres, other than deathcore.
